September 25th is the perfect day to celebrate the life and legacy of Dolly Parton. She was a singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman, and philanthropist. She was known as much for her over-the-top personality and look as for her kind and caring heart.
The Dollywood Foundation also named today "Give Like Dolly Day" to "encourage the world to make a difference in a child's life." Dolly founded the Imagination Library in 1995 in honor of her father, who could neither read nor write. She began giving books to children near her hometown in Tennessee, but eventually spread the program across the US as well as to Canada, the UK, Australia, and Ireland.
