One of my favorite performances to watch every Independence Day is A Capitol Fourth on PBS. Featuring popular singers both past and present, Jack Everly conducting the National Symphony Orchestra, and, of course, fireworks, there's something for everyone. This year will look a little bit different. The show will air a night early on July 3rd, and the fireworks will be over George Washington's Mount Vernon instead of DC.
You can watch A Capitol Fourth on PBS at 8/7C on July 3rd. Most stations repeat the broadcast immediately following the first. It can also be watched live on YouTube.
Lin-Manuel Miranda has written a new song for Disney'slive-actionMoana. "Along the Way" is performed by Maui (Dwayne Johnson), and two Moanas: the original animated Moana (Auli'i Cravalho) and the new live-action Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia). The result is fantastic.
Have you watched Spider-Noiryet? The series was released on Amazon Prime Video yesterday. So far, I've watched the first 4 episodes and I am loving it. It's so delightfully dark and retro, like an old gumshoe movie. And the music is pretty fantastic, too.
All 8 episodes of Marvel'sSpider-Noir are available now on Amazon Prime Video.
Pixar'sHoppersis the story of young Mabel and her extraordinary efforts to be a part of the animal kingdom and save their home. This song, "Save the Day" is the perfect theme for her journey.
The Indiana Jonesmovies are some of my favorites. I've watched them many, many times and I still love them. And the music John Williams composed for them is fantastic, especially the main theme.
All 5 Indiana Jones movies are available on DisneyPlus.
"Golden", a song from the animatedmovieKPop Demon Hunters, won the Oscar for Best Original Song last night. It's such a fun, upbeat song. I haven't watched the movie yet, which also won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, but the kiddo is definitely a fan.
The Disney Ambient: Rain album is surprisingly calming. The songs played on piano over the sound of gently falling rain is quite lovely. This song is "Go the Distance" from Hercules.
Isn't it funny how a single song can take you back to your childhood? I loved watching The Muppet Show as a child. The Muppets were wild and crazy and you never knew quite what they'd get up to in each episode. And it was always fun to see the guest stars and the insanity they'd get pulled into. I hope the new special is the start of a new era for The Muppet Show.
There's something truly enjoyable about watching the Muppets perform. Here, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem take on Electric Light Orchestra's "Mr. Blue Sky."
I'm really hoping this is the kind of performance that will be included in Rock 'n' Roller Coaster after the Muppet transformation.
Who knew Lady Gaga singing "Won't You Be My Neighbor?", the theme song from the beloved Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, would be exactly what we need right now.
Did you know that the Christmassong popularly known as "Carol of the Bells" was based on a Ukrainian New Year's song called "Shchedryk"? This performance by André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra features Anna Reker singing the traditional folk song in the original Ukrainian. Its quite lovely.
