I love the ever changing windows at World of Disney in Disney Springs. I'm especially fond of this bookish window featuring a quote from Walt Disney: "There is more treasure in a book than in all of the pirate loot on Treasure Island."

Descendants 2 Chillin' Like a Villain

Disney
Descendants 2 aired on the Disney Channel recently, and when I saw it, I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure what to expect, after Teen Beach Movie 2 was so terrible, but Descendants 2 was actually pretty good. The music was catchy, the story was cute, and it had a fun ending. It's definitely one to rewatch. In the meantime, here's a song featuring Evie, Carlos, and Jay as they try to help King Ben blend in on the Isle of the Lost.

All images: Disney

Disney World is in for a lot of changes in the next four years. From new lands like Pandora at Animal Kingdom, and Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios, to a ton of new rides at all four parks to suit a variety of tastes, there should be something new to please everyone. One of the most exciting rides is coming to the Magic Kingdom.

TRON Lightcycle Power Run

The TRON Lightcycle Power Run is a coaster-style ride featuring two-wheeled Lightcycles from the popular films. Currently only in Shanghai, the ride is touted as one of the most thrilling at any Disney park.

TRON Lightcycle Power Run

The ride will sit next to Space Mountain in a currently empty area and should be open in time for Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary in 2021.

Big Hero 6: The Series

Disney
Big Hero 6 is coming to DisneyXD as an animated series. Picking up where the film ended, the story follows the adventures of Hiro, Baymax, and all their friends from the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.

Here's the official description from Disney:

As the new kid at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, Hiro faces daunting academic challenges at the prestigious “nerd school” and the social trials of being the “little man on campus.” Luckily, Hiro has his brains, his ingenuity and his best friend bot to help him find his way. But it’s off campus where things get dangerous. Along with neat freak Wasabi, bubbly mad scientist Honey Lemon, fanboy Fred and no nonsense Go Go, the friends form an unlikely, but awesome super hero team – Big Hero 6. Together they face madness and mayhem as a colorful array of science-enhanced villains threaten San Fransokyo.

And here's a special clip from Comic-Con showing a scene from the series.

Big Hero 6: The Series will debut on DisneyXD in fall 2017.

DuckTales Woo-oo

Disney
If you grew up in the late '80s, you probably remember watching DuckTales. The cartoon series followed the adventures of Donald Duck's nephew's, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and their great-uncle, Scrooge McDuck.

Disney has created a new series, loosely based on the original, which will feature an amazing cast, including David Tennant as Uncle Scrooge, Danny Pudi as Huey, Ben Schwartz as Dewey, Bobby Moynihan as Louie, Kate Micucci as Webby, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, Beck Bennett as Lauchpad McQuack, and Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck.

Here's the official synopsis from Disney:

Featuring a distinct animation style inspired by the classic Carl Barks’ comic designs, DuckTales chronicles the high-flying adventures of Duckburg’s most famous trillionaire Scrooge McDuck, his mischief-making triplet grandnephews – Huey, Dewey and Louie, temperamental nephew Donald Duck and the trusted McDuck Manor team: big-hearted, fearless chauffer/pilot Launchpad McQuack; no-nonsense housekeeper Mrs. Beakley; and Mrs. Beakley’s granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack, resident adventurer and the triplet’s newfound fierce friend.

Disney
The story unfolds as Donald Duck reluctantly takes Huey, Dewey and Louie to the home of their reclusive great-uncle Scrooge McDuck. Enthralled by their once-legendary great-uncle and the wonder of McDuck Manor, the triplets and Webby learn of long-kept family secrets and unleash totems from Scrooge’s epic past, sending the family on an adventure of a lifetime to the Lost City of Atlantis.

DuckTales will debut with a 24 hour marathon of the first episode on DisneyXD August 12.

The teaser posters for Star Wars: The Last Jedi are awesome! Featuring glimpses of the main characters dressed entirely in red, the posters are definitely unique. The first poster is of the late Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia.

Rey
Lucasfilm
Here's Daisy Ridley as Rey, the young woman who seeks Luke's help to learn the ways of the Force.

Finn
Lucasfilm
Former Stormtrooper Finn, John Boyega, was in a coma when last we saw him, so I'm curious to see what will happen when he wakes up.

Kylo Ren
Lucasfilm
The final poster is Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. Will Darth Vader's grandson follow in his footsteps, or is he lost to the Dark Side forever? Only time will tell. Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in theaters on December 15.

Coco News

Disney
The latest image from Coco, released at D23 yesterday, shows Miguel and Hector making music together. The songs for the film were written by the fantastic duo from Frozen, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Additional music for the film will be composed by Michael Giacchino, who has written several scores for Pixar including Inside Out and The Incredibles. With this much musical talent involved, the soundtrack should be incredible. Coco arrives in theaters on November 22.

Star Wars: Forces of Destiny - Rey

Disney/Lucasfilm
The first two episodes of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny have arrived on YouTube. They both feature Rey and her struggles to save BB-8 from various misadventures on Jakku.

First up is "Sands of Jakku."

Episode two is "BB-8 Bandits."

So far, I like these mini episodes. The animation is pretty good and the stories are, too. The opening voiceover describes these short tales best: "the choices we make, the actions we take, moments, both big and small, shape us into Forces of Destiny." There will be a new episode every day this week on Disney's YouTube channel, and a special on the Disney Channel on July 9.

Happy Fourth of July!

Disney
Happy Fourth of July!

If you can't head out to see a fireworks display this year, how about watching one from home? Every year, I watch "A Capital Fourth" on PBS. The music is generally really good and the fireworks are fantastic. (There's nothing quite like the 1812 Overture, complete with cannons or howitzers. It really isn't the same without them.) John Stamos is hosting this year, so it should be fun. The show starts at 8 PM on most PBS stations, with a replay immediately after.

If you'd prefer a display with some Disney flair, you're in luck. This year, Disney will be sharing "Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky" via live stream from the Magic Kingdom. The show starts at 8:55 PM ET and can be found on the Disney Parks Blog. Whatever you choose, I hope you have a safe and happy Independence Day!
