Quote of the Week

When I look around, you know what I see? Losers. I mean like, folks who have lost stuff. And we have, man, all of us. Homes, and our families, normal lives. And you think life takes more than it gives, but not today. Today its giving us something. It is giving us a chance.

Pirates of the Caribbean Inspired Clothing at Kohl's

Kohl's and Disney have teamed up to create a very cool collection of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales inspired clothing. There are several different shirts and dresses, most of which are not your typical fan gear. They are a very subtle nod to the colors and fashions of the series.

I really like this flowing Bohemian top with red embroidered flowers.

This lace-up t-shirt is more obviously Pirates, with the Black Pearl emblazoned on the front.
They also have a new makeup collection from Lorac. The packaging is gorgeous, as are the colors. But at $52 for the eye shadow palette, it's a bit expensive for the average fan.
The eye shadow palette says "Treasure in the stars" and looks like Captain Jack's compass.
The cheek palette says "Verum omnia simul astra" and was inspired by Carina Smyth's journal. On the inside, the mirror says "Chart a course for the stars."

Darkwing Duck POPVinyls

"Let's get dangerous!" If you grew up in the 80s, you probably remember watching Darkwing Duck. The adventures of the caped crusader who fought crime, with the disastrous help of Launchpad McQuack, were a favorite in my house. Next month, Darkwing, Launchpad, and the masked duck's adopted daughter, Gosalyn Mallard, will be immortalized in POPVinyl.

Launchpad McQuack

Launchpad may be my favorite. He looks rather earnest, which seems appropriate.

Gosalyn Mallard
I think these would make a great addition to any Disney lover's collection.

Sleeping Beauty Tsum Tsums

The most adorable Tsum Tsum set arrives at the Disney Store today: the Sleeping Beauty collection. The collection features 9 Tsums: Aurora in both her blue and pink dresses, King Stefan, Prince Phillip and his horse Samson, Maleficent's Raven Diablo and a Goon, and the Rabbit and Owl that Briar Rose danced with Once Upon a Dream. Maleficent and her dragon form were released in a previous set.

A second Sleeping Beauty set is also being released today. It features Briar Rose and the three good Fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. I love the Rabbit and Owl wearing Prince Phillip's cloak, hat, and boot!

Quote of the Week

Robin Hood and Little John
Were walking through the forest
Laughing back and forth at what
The other one has to say

Reminiscing this and that
And having such a good time
Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally
Golly, what a day

Never ever thinking there was danger in the water
They were drinking, they just guzzled it down
Never dreaming that a scheming sheriff and his posse
Was a-watching them and gathering around

Robin Hood and Little John
Were running through the forest
Jumping fences, dodging trees
And trying to get away

Contemplating nothing
But escape and finally making it
Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally
Golly, what a day

Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally
Golly, what a day

Alan-a-Dale, Robin Hood

Happily Ever After Debut

Last night saw the debut of the new Happily Ever After show at the Magic Kingdom. The show looked pretty amazing. I especially liked the Brave and Moana segments. And I am very glad that they kept Rapunzel's lanterns and Tinker Bell's flight, which were my favorite parts of the old projection show. Check it out and let me know what you think. (Skip to 15:25 to see just the show.)

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales TV Spots

There have been several great TV Spots for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Only Captain Jack would expect that Elizabeth still thought of him.

Captain Salazar is so creepy when he's calling for Jack Sparrow.

The search for Poseidon's Trident may be tougher than they thought.

"I'm not one to complain, but this baskets full of heads."
Captain Jack does enjoy his gallows humor.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales arrives in theaters on May 26.

I love the organ in the Haunted Mansion queue. It was the perfect place for an unexpected photo of Groot. And don't forget, today is the last day to enter to win your own Groot Dorbz here at Disney At Heart.

Dancing Baby Groot Sipper at Hollywood Studios

I love this new Dancing Baby Groot sipper from Hollywood Studios. His arms move, so it looks like he's dancing. So adorable! The pot says "I am Groot" on one side and "Guardians of the Galaxy" on the other. The sipper cup comes filled with your choice of fountain drink for $12.75 and is available from the popcorn carts near Grauman's Chinese Theater.

Descendants 2 on Dancing With the Stars

The VKs from Descendants were on Dancing with the Stars last Monday to promote the upcoming Descendants 2. They performed a medley of "WICKED" and "Rotten to the Core", which was very entertaining. Descendants 2 arrives on the Disney Channel on July 21.

Star-Lord and Baby Groot Meet and Greet

Did you know that you can meet Star-Lord and Baby Groot at Disney's Hollywood Studios? They are currently meeting guests in a Guardians of the Galaxy themed area inside One Man's Dream. I had the chance to meet them recently and I loved it.

Baby Groot is so cute! He dances and says "I am Groot!" It's too fun. Star-Lord is very chatty and charismatic. And he loved my Groot Dorbz from Funko, although he really hoped his Dorbz didn't have such a big head. Make sure to stop in and meet Star-Lord and Baby Groot on your next visit to Hollywood Studios.

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 arriving in theaters today, I thought it was time for a giveaway. To celebrate my favorite Guardian, I have a Groot Dorbz from Funko to give to one lucky reader. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales TV Spot - Revenge

The latest TV spot for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales focuses on Salazar's desire for revenge and the supernatural lengths he's willing to go to to get it. And to paraphrase the first film "You best start believing in ghost stories, Miss Smyth. You're in one!"

Awesome Mix Vol 2 - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Soundtrack

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Soundtrack

The music in Guardians of the Galaxy seemed made for the movie. Although many people probably wouldn't have recognized the titles, or perhaps even some of the artists, on Awesome Mix Vol. 1, those of us who grew up in the 80s remembered those songs. From the opening scene, which features "Come and Get Your Love" by Redbone, I knew I would love the soundtrack. At the end of the film, Peter Quill uncovered a new cassette from his mother, called "Awesome Mix Vol. 2"

Awesome Mix Vol. 2 is the soundtrack for the second film. The songs are meant to represent Meredith, Peter Quill's mom, and the music she loved enough to share with her son. This soundtrack includes songs from more recognizable performers, such as George Harrison, Fleetwood Mac, and ELO. I was glad to see a Cat Stevens song in the mix, since that's what I grew up listening to. The final song, "Guardians Inferno" which director James Gunn co-wrote, features vocals by David Hasselhoff, one of Quill's childhood heroes.

Here's the full track list from "Awesome Mix Vol. 2":

  1. "Mr. Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra
  2. "Fox on the Run" by Sweet
  3. "Lake Shore Drive" by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah
  4. "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac
  5. "Bring it On Home to Me" by Sam Cooke
  6. "Southern Nights" by Glen Campbell
  7. "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison
  8. "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" by Looking Glass
  9. "Come a Little Bit Closer" by Jay and the Americans
  10. "Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang" by Silver
  11. "Surrender" by Cheap Trick
  12. "Father and Son" by Cat Stevens / Yusuf Islam
  13. "Flash Light" by Parliament
  14. "Guardians Inferno" by the Sneepers featuring David Hasselhoff
"Awesome Mix Vol. 2" is available in stores now. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 arrives in theaters on May 5.
