Disney Family Night Dinners

Disney World Dining
Disney

Disney World has a new family meal that sounds like a lot of fun. The take-out meal includes a shareable entree and sides, a cute dessert, and a character inspired card-type game for the whole family to enjoy. Each three-course meal serves 3-4 people and is available from 5-10PM at one of two resort locations and through mobile order.

At Centertown Market in Caribbean Beach Resort:
  • Roasted Jamaican-style Chicken
  • Fried Yucca
  • Cilantro Rice
  • Seasonal Vegetables
  • Caribbean Pull-apart Rolls with Onion Jam and Guava Butter
  • Decorate-your-own Mickey and Minnie Cookies
At Gasparilla Island Grill in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa:
  • Garden Salad – Tomato, cucumber, carrots, and a duo of dressings
  • Savory Lasagna – Three cheese lasagna with tomato sauce
  • Two Mickey-shaped Cheese or Pepperoni Pizzas
  • Minnie Cheesecake with strawberry sauce, whipped cream, and fresh berries
These sound like the perfect option when you want a quiet evening after an exciting day in the parks. I look forward to trying them on my next trip.

Hocus Pocus Toys and Games

Binx stuffed toy
All images: Disney

I really do adore all things Hocus Pocus. The clothing, treats, costumes, collectibles, and  of course, toys and games. This year, Disney has created a few adorable stuffed toys. This Binx wearing Dani Dennison's witch's hat is ridiculously cute.

Winifred Sanderson doll

The Sanderson sisters have also become stuffed dolls, although these appear to match the cartoony style found on several items this year. Each doll does seem to capture the personality of the witch. Winifred has the perfect smile, and looks ready to call on her beloved booooook.

Mary Sanderson doll

Mary has her quirky grin and seems about to cause some trouble.

Sarah Sanderson doll

Sarah looks very mischievous and ready to run amuck, amuck, amuck.

Hocus Pocus game

If games are more your speed, check out this board game from Ravensberger. I have several of their games, and although sometimes complicated, I really enjoy them. Hocus Pocus is a strategy game where players must work together to stun the Sanderson sisters and keep them from making their potion before the sun rises. I haven't played yet, but it does look fun. All of the toys are available from shopDisney.com, while the game is available from several different retailers.

Remy Is Everywhere At This Year's EPCOT Food and Wine Festival

Remy is everywhere at the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. Our favorite little chef who proved that anyone can cook is the perfect mascot for a festival filled with treats and eats from around the world.

As soon as you enter the park, you'll find Remy on the Festival Passport. This guide to all of the foods and beverages available at the various booths has everything you need to help you keep track of your dining choices. An adorable Remy gift card is also available. The card, which hangs from the wrist, makes paying for all of those delightful dishes exceptionally easy.

For a little more adventure, pick up a map and stickers to play Remy's Ratatouille Hide and Squeak. The map is available at several locations for $6.99. Circles on the map tell you which locations have a hidden Remy, but this year, there's a catch.

In the past, Remy was always out in the open, but this year, he's inside retail locations where he can be protected from the weather. When you're searching for Remy, just remember to look up. He always likes to hide where he can't be reached.

Each Remy is holding an ingredient needed to make Ratatouille: peppers, onions, olive oil, eggplant, salt and pepper, etcetera. Place the matching sticker on your map and look for the next location. When you've found every Remy, take your map to Port of Entry to choose your prize. A cast member will stamp the back to show that you've completed the map.

This year's prize is a travel cup. There are four different designs to choose from: Remy, Figment, Mickey, and Minnie. Of course, I chose Remy.

Each cup also has the "Taste your way around the world" logo. The cups are a fun and useful souvenir of your visit to the Food and Wine Festival.

Finally, if you want even more Remy, how about an adorable spoon straw. The plastic spoon looks wooden and has Remy in his chef's hat hanging on as if stirring. I found this Remy at Sunshine Seasons. So cute!

LEGO has an "Incredible" New Game On the Way

WB Games
I love the Lego videogames. They are a ton of fun to play and can be quite addicting. The latest LEGO game features that irrepressible family of supers, the Incredibles. Team up with the Parr family to take on villains and protect the citizens of Municiberg and New Urbem.
LEGO The Incredibles will be available on three systems: Playstation4, XBoxOne, and Nintendo Switch. It arrives in stores on June 15.

Here's the official synopsis from WB Games:

Inspired by both films, LEGO® The Incredibles allows players to tackle crime as the super-powered Parr Family. You’ll get to explore action-packed story levels and an epic hub world, including Municiberg and New Urbem, as you use your unique super abilities to bring the city’s villains to justice. You can assemble incredible LEGO builds either on your own or team up with family and friends in two-player co-op mode for twice the fun.

It's Scavenger Hunt Time at EPCOT

Disney
This year, Disney has two special scavenger hunts as the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival. The first is the Egg-Stravaganza scavenger hunt. Guests can purchase a map and stickers for $5.99 from Disney Trader, Pin Central, or World Traveler. As you travel around the World Showcase, keep an eye out for large decorated Easter eggs that have been hidden. Return to Disney Traders with your map and claim a character egg as a prize. This year's eggs include Mickey, Minnie, Sulley, Mike, Cinderella, and Belle. (A word of caution, I find this to be the most frustrating of the EPCOT scavenger hunts as the eggs can be ridiculously difficult to find.) The Egg-Stravaganza scavenger hunt runs from March 16 through April 1.

Disney
The second scavenger hunt is new, and is called Spike's Pollen Nation Exploration. Just purchase a garden map and stickers for $5.99 from Port of Entry. As you wander through the Flower and Garden Festival, search gardens for the plant Spike the honeybee has pollinated. You'll know you've found it if you see a Spike's Pollen Nation Exploration plant stake.
Disney
After completing your map, return to Port of Entry for a springtime surprise. Spike's Pollen Nation Exploration will run through the length of the Flower and Garden Festival, from February 28-May 28. Good luck and happy hunting!

Where's Olaf?

During our most recent trip to Disney World, we took along a mini Olaf, thinking that Bean might like to do a kind of Flat Stanley photography project with him. However, Bean decided that I needed to create a new game for my blog. We like to call it "Where's Olaf?" As we wandered around Disney World, I took photos of Olaf hiding out in various places. He may be hiding in a ride queue, restaurant, shop, or show. At each location, I took two photos: one closeup and one farther away. In the first photo, you can see Olaf and just a little of his surroundings. In the second, you should be able to see where he was hiding. So, for each game, I'll show you the first photo and you try to guess Where's Olaf? The next day, I'll share the second photo (with a description of where he was hiding) and you can see how you did. How well do you know Walt Disney World? How many will you be able to guess correctly? Well, here's your first photo. Where's Olaf?

Disney Infinity

Disney
Have you played Disney's new Infinity game? We got it for Christmas, and have only played a few times, but it's a lot of fun. I love how you can play as so many characters. We've spent some time in the Lone Ranger level and really enjoyed it. I will have to spend some time really learning how it all works, but for now, I'm just having fun learning about each of the characters.

There are several different characters available currently, with many more that should be released over the next several months. You can play as:

On April 1, 2014, they will release the set I'm most looking forward to: Phineas Flynn-Fletcher and Agent P from Phineas and Ferb. We are total Phineas and Ferb fans, so we can't wait to see what crazy things they can get up to. Here's a quick look to pique your interest.
