Tomorrowland Arrives On Blu-ray Today!

Tomorrowland arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray today. I had a chance to see it in the theater and I absolutely loved it. Caution: Spoiler Alert!

Tomorrowland begins with a look back at the 1964 World's Fair. Young Frank Walker, a budding inventor, has brought his jet pack to the Science competition. Unfortunately, his jet pack doesn't quite work, but it's enough to impress a young girl named Athena, who gives Frank a special pin. When Frank wears the pin into the "it's a small world" ride, the ride changes, sending him to a transport module to Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is an amazing place full of futuristic inventions.

Flash forward to today, where a teenage girl named Casey (Britt Robertson) is getting into trouble while tring to stop NASA from dismantling the space shuttle launch platform. Casey is arrested for trespassing, and when she's released, she discovers an unknown pin amongst her things. When she touches the pin, she gets a glimpse of Tomorrowland. Casey is insatiably curious, so she decides to find out everything she can about Tomorrowland. Along the way, she discovers that there are people hunting her to protect the secret. She stumbles across Athena, who eventually leads her to Frank (George Clooney). This is where the real adventure begins. Together, Frank, Casey, and Athena must try to save Tomorrowland, and the future.

I loved this movie, as did my family. It was full of action and adventure, comedy and occasionally sorrow. It was a good story with beautiful photography. The scenes of Tomorrowland itself are quite a spectacle. I can't wait to see it again! Tomorrowland is available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Combo Pack today, October 13, 2015.

"Incredible" Treats Have Arrived at the Incredible Tomorrowland Expo

The Incredible Tomorrowland Expo kicked off recently, and it has brought some Incredible treats to the Magic Kingdom. At the Tomorrowland Terrace, try the Dash Pizza, a Sicilian-style pizza available as cheese or pepperoni.

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe has two new entrees: 

• The Super Foods Salad includes kale, spinach, quinoa, avocado, blueberries, and pico de gallo
• The Super Stretchy Burger is flame-grilled Angus beef with deep fried mozzarella sticks, American cheese, bacon, and garlic ranch sauce

If you'd prefer something sweet, check out the treats at Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies. There you will find two versions of Edna Mode's No Capes, Just Crepes Sundae.

The Lunching Pad is the perfect place for a quick snack.

Finally, be sure to stop by a Tomorrowland Snack Cart. There, you'll find Frozone's Sno-Cones, a blue raspberry flavored treat perfect for a hot summer day.

The Incredible Tomorrowland Expo runs through September 3. In addition to delicious food, guests can find super new merchandise, meet Incredibles characters, and hang out at a Super Dance Party in Rockettower Plaza from 2-7PM daily.

Sneak Previews at Disney World

Disney World has started to share special previews of the latest Disney movies. When I was there last week, we had the chance to see a fantastic preview of Tomorrowland at EPCOT.

It was shown in the Imagination Pavilion Theater. The preview gave us a glimpse into young Frank Walker and also the importance of the T pins to Tomorrowland. It looks so amazing!

The second preview was at Hollywood Studios. In the ABC Soundstage Theater, we saw a preview of Cinderella. After introducing the characters, they showed the fairy godmother scene where she transforms the pumpkin, mice, goose, and dress to send Cinderella to the ball. Helena Bonham Carter is hilarious as the fairy godmother! I can't wait to see the rest of the film.

On May 30, the Tomorrowland preview will be removed to make way for Inside Out to arrive. Disney handed out Inside Out character cards in the Emotions Garden during the Flower and Garden Festival. The characters are very interesting and the movie looks funny and insightful.

Cinderella will also be replaced soon. In honor of Star Wars Weekends, you can watch the Star Wars Rebels: Ultimate Guide. I saw this over May the 4th Weekend on Disney XD. It's a great way to catch up on what has happened so far. I'm looking forward to watching many more Disney previews in the parks this coming year.

Tomorrowland PopVinyl

Funko recently released a few new POPVinyl figures featuring characters from Tomorrowland. There are two Frank Walker figures.

One is old Frank, as played by George Clooney.

And the other is young Frank, as a child.

A third figure is of David Nix, the Hugh Laurie character.

They also created two different Tomorrowland pins, replicas of the ones seen in the movie.

Miles from Tomorrowland

Bean and I love Miles from Tomorrowland on Disney Junior. Miles and his sister Loretta travel the galaxy with their parents, Captain Phoebe Callisto and Engineer Leo Callisto. Along with their robo-ostrich Merc, they solve problems and have amazing adventures while working missions for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. (The TTA is run by Admirals Watson and Crick, named for the scientists who discovered the chemical composition of DNA. That's just one of many little scientific in-jokes for the parents who are watching.) It's a really cute show that does a great job of explaining basic science concepts so that kids will understand them.

I love the show overall, but I especially like the guest stars. Disney does a great job of choosing a character that perfectly represents a specific person. 

The most recent episode featured the voice talents of Alton Brown, host of Cutthroat Kitchen among other shows on Food Network, as a chef named Lysander Floovox. It also featured a scientist named Professor Rubicon who is voiced by the legendary Bill Nye, the Science Guy. Other guest stars have included Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher, Star Trek: TNG) as Commander S'Leet, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker, Star Wars) as Gadfly Garnet, and George Takei (Hikaru Sulu, Star Trek) as Spectrix. It's a sci-fi nerd's dream come true!

D23 Live Action Movie Update

I wish I could have gone to the D23 Expo this year; there was a lot of amazing news shared these past 3 days. However, I'd like to share what I think will be the most fun: the live action movies. Here's a little preview of what you can expect in the next few years.

First up was Thor: The Dark World. I love Marvel movies in general, and I can't wait to see this one. The second film in Phase Two of the Avengers Initiative, this film will see the return of all of the great actors that made the first film such a success. Thor returns to Earth to see Jane Foster and bring her to Asgard. Together, Thor and his companions must risk everything to face an enemy even Odin and the Asgardians cannot defeat. Thor: The Dark World arrives in theaters November 8th.

Next up was Into the Woods. I saw Into the Woods on stage when I was about 13. It wasn't entirely appropriate, but a lot of the inuendo was over my head at the time. I must say I'm a little concerned that Disney is making this film. After all, this particular Sondheim musical is a very dark take on classic fairy tales. By the second act, you realize that no one has had a happily ever after, and all of the characters are completely miserable. All that aside, this film is an example of some really amazing casting. Actors include Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Chris Pine as Cinderella's Prince, Christine Baransky as Cinderella's Stepmother, Johnny Depp as the Wolf, and Meryl Streep as the Witch who is trying to teach them all a lesson. It should be fun! Into the Woods arrives in theaters in December 2014.

Directed by the legendary Kenneth Branagh, Disney's next adventure is the live action Cinderella. This version is expected to follow the traditional story, so it will be up to the casting to set this film apart. The cast includes: Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother, Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine (Cinderella's wicked stepmother), and Stellan Skarsgard as the Grand Duke (an adviser to the king). Lily James (Lady Rose on Downton Abbey) and Richard Madden (Robb Stark on Game of Thrones) round out the cast as Cinderella and her Prince Charming.  Disney's Cinderella arrives in theaters in March 2015.

We've now arrived at what may be the most intriguing of these live action films: Maleficent. Following the story of Maleficent, rather than Aurora, this is an interesting spin on the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty. Starring Angelina Jolie in the title role, Maleficent will show us what events led up to her becoming evil and ultimately caused her to curse a tiny baby, the Princess Aurora. Maleficent arrives in theaters on July 2, 2014.

Next up was Muppets: Most Wanted. As with all Muppet movies, this one looks to be a wild ride. Following that great Muppet tradition, this film will star all your favorite Muppets alongside great guest stars like Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, and Tina Fey. I'm not sure what this one will be about, other than pure Muppet madness, but I'm sure it will be a blast to watch! Muppets Most Wanted arrives in theaters in Spring 2014.

For more Marvel fun, we have Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In this film, Cap will once again be battling against injustice, cynicism, and intolerance in defense of the American dream. Teaming up once again with Black Widow, he will have to fight a friend from his past in order to save the future. Captain America: The Winter Soldier arrives in theaters April 4, 2014.

Next up is Saving Mr. Banks. The film stars Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as PL Travers, the author of Mary Poppins. It is the story of how Walt promised his daughters that he would turn their favorite book into a movie, without knowing how hard PL Travers would fight to prevent it. In two short weeks in 1961, Walt does his best to change her mind, with the help of the Sherman brothers and their amazing songs. However, it's not until he thinks back on his own childhood that he begins to understand the ghosts that haunt her and how they can work together to create something amazing. Saving Mr. Banks arrives in theaters December 20, 2013.

Other project, which I will admit I know very little about, include Tomorrowland, a science fiction film with an unknown story, and Bears, a Disney Nature film. Tomorrowland stars Britt Robertson (Angie on Under the Dome) as the film's heroine, George Clooney as an inventor, and Hugh Laurie as the villain. Tomorrowland arrives in theaters on December 12, 2014. Bears, a film about the lives of a group of Alaskan bears, arrives in theaters on April 18, 2014. I look forward to seeing these films and will be sure to pass along additional information as I find it.
