Indiana Jones Funko POPVinyl Are Coming Soon

All images: Funko

With the final installment of the Indiana Jones movies heading to theaters this summer, Funko has decided to revisit a few favorite scenes and characters from the first three movies. (Yes, I know there are four, but the Crystal Skull has been left out of this set.) These POPVinyl collectibles are currently available for pre-order from the usual suspects: Amazon, Entertainment Earth, GameStop, etc, and most will also be available at Funko at some point. They are expected to arrive sometime between May and August and prices do vary somewhat by retailer.

First up, is Indy escaping the boulder. This large scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark will be available from multiple retailers at a price of $34.99.

The second scene is of Indy with the Sankara Stones. This figure, from Temple of Doom, is a Funko exclusive that lights up and will cost $40.

The third scene is my favorite: Indy and his dad in the motorcycle with sidecar. This scene, from The Last Crusade, is an Amazon exclusive and will cost $24.99.

And then there are quite a few POPVinyl figures to choose from. There are five different POPVinyl looks for our favorite archeologist, four of his companions, one villain and one keychain.

• Hot Topic exclusive: a very beat up Indy holding a sword and whip from Temple of Doom $5
• Keychain mini Indy holding a whip
• Funko exclusive: Professor Jones from Raiders, ready to write on the chalkboard $15
• Funko exclusive: Indy in his white suit jacket, holding the antidote from Temple of Doom, $15

• Marion Ravenwood holding the monkey from Raiders of the Lost Ark $11.99
• Sallah, who looks ready for a fight, from The Last Crusade $11.99
• Henry Jones, Sr. with his briefcase and umbrella from The Last Crusade $11.99
• Arnold Toht with his hand burned by the headpiece of the Staff of Ra from Raiders of the Lost Ark $11.99
• Indy without his jacket from Raiders of the Lost Ark $11.99
• Indy with his jacket from Raiders of the Lost Ark $11.99

• GameStop exclusive Short Round from Temple of Doom $11.99

Is it bad that I kind of want them all?

I'm horribly addicted to POPVinyl figures. They have a tendency to take over the shelves in front of my movie collection, sometimes to the point where you have to remove several before you can get to a particular film. A recent series from Disney may make my collection even bigger.

Disney and Funko, have worked together to create a line of Parks Exclusive POP! figures. The first set in the series featured the Hitchhiking Ghosts as well as the Hatbox Ghost from the Haunted Mansion. The figure released in July was Indiana Jones holding a machete. It was inspired by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The latest figure, which is also part of the POP! Rides series, features Indiana Jones in his rugged troop transport from the Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland.

This set will retail for $40. And if past releases are any indication, it will likely sell out immediately.  This figure will only be available from the Disney Parks online store. Starting October 7, visit DisneyStore.com/IndianaFunko to order.

The Legacy of Indiana Jones Featurette

Lucasfilm

All good things must come to an end. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny may be the final film in the Indiana Jones Saga, but the adventure will live on.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in theaters on June 30th.

John Williams & Indiana Jones

Lucasfilm

I've always loved John Williams' film scores. There's just something incredible about the music he writes. So many of his themes have become truly iconic, including the theme for Indiana Jones. Here's a brief glimpse behind-the-scenes of the scoring of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in theaters in 9 days on June 30th.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Lucasfilm

I have absolutely adored the Indiana Jones films since the first time I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark. They are a fantastic mix of fantasy and adventure, history and romance, with an incredible cast of characters. The fifth, and likely final, movie finally has a trailer and a title: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. I can't wait!

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in theaters on June 30, 2023.

These Indiana Jones LEGO Are Awesome!

All images: LEGO

If LEGO keeps coming out with more and more amazing sets, my house will be filled to the top with LEGO. (And I'll love every bit of it!) The latest sets feature three classic scenes from the Indiana Jones movies. First up is the Temple of the Golden Idol. This 1545 piece set from Raiders of the Lost Ark includes 4 minifigures: Indiana Jones, Satipo, René Belloq, and a Hovitos warrior, and is packed with interactive features. You can lower and light up the idol, collapse a wall, swing Indy across a cavern, lower a trap door, and, of course, chase Indy with the iconic boulder. There's also a skeleton of Dr Forrestal, a poor missing archeologist, and lots of spiders. The set is intended for adult collectors and comes with an adult price tag of $149.99.

If something a little smaller (and cheaper) is more your speed, how about the Escape from the Lost Tomb. This 600 piece set is also from Raiders of the Lost Ark and also features 4 minifigures: Indy, Sallah, Marion Ravenwood, and a mummy. The interactive features in this scene include an Anubis statue that can fall and break through a wall into a hidden passage where the mummy lies, an ark for Sallah and Indy to carry, and lots of snakes. ("Why did it have to be snakes?!") The set is intended for kids 8 and up and sells for $39.99.

And finally, a set from my favorite Indiana Jones movie: The Last Crusade. The Fighter Plane Chase is a 387 piece set that includes 3 minifigures: Indy, Henry Jones, Sr., and a fighter pilot. Interactive features for this scene include removable wings on the fighter plane (for crashing through tunnels), a movable propeller, and two stud shooters. Other fun touches include the Grail diary and an umbrella in the back of the car (remember your Charlemagne.) This set is the least expensive at $34.99 and is also for kids 8 and up.

All three sets will be available from the LEGO website on April 1. I think I may have to have them all!

Indiana Jones 5

Lucasfilm

I was watching the Indiana Jones films this weekend and they got me thinking. I have always loved the character and have watched Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade hundreds of times. They have been two of my favorite films for years. I don't usually watch the Temple of Doom, mostly because of memories of the monkey brains scene from when I was a kid (it's not as gross as I'd remembered it, thank heavens!) I can't say that the last film, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was all that great, although I loved that they brought Marion back and introduced Mutt as Indy's son, it was the aliens that didn't quite work for me. But, thinking about all of these films made me realize that odd numbered Indiana Jones movies are fantastic, and even numbered ones are, well, just odd. It seems strange, but it does bode well for rumors of a fifth Indiana Jones movie. We'll just have to hope that the system holds true.

One Final Adventure

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is nearly here. It's been 42 years since Indiana Jones first appeared on the big screen and now it's time for his final adventure.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in theaters this Friday, June 30th.

Indiana Jones 5 Clip

Lucasfilm

This clip from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny features my favorite aspect of Indy movies: he's solving a puzzle that will lead him to the next clue in his search for some important relic.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in theaters on June 30th.

Indiana Jones Adventure Ride POV

Disney

I love the Indiana Jones Adventure ride at Disneyland. It's such a fun dark ride with an amazing queue.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril at Disneyland Paris is pretty awesome, too.

Indiana Jones Theme

Lucasfilm

The Indiana Jones movies are some of my favorites. I've watched them many, many times and I still love them. And the music John Williams composed for them is fantastic, especially the main theme.

All 5 Indiana Jones movies are available on DisneyPlus.

Indiana Jones On DisneyPlus

Lucasfilm

The final Indiana Jones film is making its way to DisneyPlus next month. I really enjoyed this last grand adventure of one of my favorite characters, so I can't wait to see it again.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives on DisneyPlus on December 1st.

Take a Virtual Ride on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril is a high-speed, outdoor roller coaster in Disneyland Paris. It is a thrilling, if a little bumpy, journey around a temple covered in sculptures of snakes.

"Snakes...why did it have to be SNAKES?!"

I loved the theming, which is perfect for an Indiana Jones archaeological dig. The ride is a blast, with the first fully circular inversion on a Disney roller coaster, although it is a very small loop.

I thoroughly enjoyed this ride, although you really have to keep your head back to prevent getting banged up. If you like roller coasters and Indiana Jones, be sure to give it a try.

Add A Little Indiana Jones To Your Home

All images: Lucasfilm/Disney

I have always loved the Indiana Jones movies. From the adventure, to the romance, to the archeology, it's one of my favorite series. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the start of Professor Jones' adventures, Disney has reproduced four famous relics to add to your home decor, with more to come this fall. And don't worry, you wont have to go on an archeological dig to find them. All of the relics will be available from shopDisney.com, as well as in Disneyland and Disney World.

First up is the iconic Chachapoyan Fertility Idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark. While Doctor Jones lost this particular relic to Rene Belloq, you can now pre-order one of your own.

Next, we have one of the Sankara Stones from The Temple of Doom. This relic lights up for an even more realistic look. It is currently sold out at shopDisney.

This Holy Grail from The Last Crusade is definitely my favorite relic. The Grail, which is ceramic like the original, is currently available for pre-order.

And finally, the controversial Crystal Skull from, you guessed it, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This is the largest relic at 13" long, and therefore the most expensive, and it too lights up, for an eerie mind-altering alien effect. It is currently available for pre-order.

Three additional items will be released this fall. First up is the Staff of Ra headpiece that Indy acquired from Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

And two more relics from The Temple of Doom: the kryta doll of Indy and the pin used to stab it.

Unfortunately, none of these relics come cheap. They range in price from $50 to $250. But they would definitely be a talking point in any home. However, if bringing them home is not an option, several of these relics can be seen in Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar in Disney Springs.

Quote of the Week

So forget any ideas you've got about lost cities, exotic travel, and digging up the world. We do not follow maps to buried treasure, and "X" never, ever marks the spot.

Quote of the Week

Lucasfilm

I don't believe in magic. But a few times in my life, I've seen things. Things I can't explain. And I've come to believe it's not so much about what you believe, it's how hard you believe it.

Indiana Jones 5

Well it looks like there will be a fifth Indiana Jones after all. Earlier this week, Steven Spielberg announced that Harrison Ford will once again return to the screen as the archaeologist/adventurer, Henry "Indiana" Jones. Since this will be an odd-numbered film, I have high hopes for it. The latest installment arrives in theaters July 19, 2019.
