I love the light effects that Disney displays on Spaceship Earth these days. It's fun to see covered in twinkly stars, or see it turn into a giant peppermint ball. It definitely adds to the fun of EPCOT at night.

Spaceship Earth in Disney World is such an interesting ride. It's a journey through the history of human communication inside EPCOT's geosphere. My favorite section is the Renaissance. It's filled with painters, sculptors, and sleeping monks. This artist is painting a still life of fruit, wine, and cheese.

Orange Bird Fun at EPCOT

Everyone's favorite Orange Bird is making quite the appearance at this year's EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival. Above is the Citrus-infused Cupcake Orange Bird with Honey Disney Munchling. Aren't they cute?

And this sipper, which can be found at the Citrus Blossom Outdoor Kitchen, features Orange Bird holding the original Orange Bird Sipper from the 70's.

And there's a whole new line of 70's inspired collectibles and clothing to choose from, many of which can be found at both the festival and shopDisney. Here's the back of the Orange Bird Spirit Jersey, which also has another Orange Bird on the front as well as a Spaceship Earth shaped orange tree on the sleeve. Pride Mural at EPCOT

For the last few years, Disney World has marked Pride month with murals in each of the four parks and Disney Springs. The murals make great photo spots for guests. This Spaceship Earth inspired love mural can be found outside Connections Café & Eatery in EPCOT.

What to Expect When Disney World Reopens

When Disney World reopens the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11 and EPCOT and Hollywood Studios on July 15, things will look a little different. From reservations to get into the parks on a specific day, to no Fast Passes, to guests and Cast Members wearing masks, it will definitely be a new experience.

Before you go, make sure to book a reservation through Disney's Park Pass System. Reservations can be made beginning June 22 for resort guests, June 26 for Annual Passholders, and June 28 for existing ticket holders. All guests must have a Park Pass and ticket to enter the Parks and can only select one park per day, no park hopping. All guests may be subject to a touchless temperature check and must wear a mask to enter the Parks.

Once you enter the Parks, most attractions will be available including:

• Magic Kingdom - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean
• Animal Kingdom - Kilimanjaro Safari, Expedition Everest, and Avatar Flight of Passage
• EPCOT - Spaceship Earth (the refurbishment has been delayed), Soarin' Around the World, Frozen Ever After, and Test Track 
• Hollywood Studios - Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway

There will be characters in the Parks, although Meet and Greets have been suspended for the time being. Some characters can be seen in surprise parades while others might pop up in unexpected locations. Here are a few ways the characters will appear:

• Magic Kingdom - cavalcades down the parade route, perhaps a captive Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean queue (I've seen Cap'n Jack in the queue before and it's hilarious!)
• Animal Kingdom - characters sailing the waterways 
• EPCOT - processions along the World Showcase promenade, Queen Anna and Elsa may cross your path in the World Showcase
• Hollywood Studios - motorcades on Hollywood Boulevard, Resistance members may be hiding from the First Order in Black Spire Outpost

Several music groups will also be returning, such as Mariachi Cobre and JAMMitors at EPCOT and the Main Street Philharmonic at Magic Kingdom.

While it will be different, I can't wait to return to Walt Disney World this summer!

Monstrous Summer for Disney

On April 24, Disney announced the upcoming kick off of their "Monstrous Summer". Mike Wazowski appeared on Spaceship Earth to let everyone know about the special event occurring May 24th: a 24-hour "All-Nighter" to celebrate the release of Monsters University in theaters everywhere. This means that the Magic Kingdom in Disney World, Disneyland, and California Adventure will all be open for 24 hours, from 6AM to 6AM. Disney held one of these open 24 hour events last year to celebrate Leap Day and it looked amazing. There will be monstrous merchandise, special entertainment, and frightening food available this one day only. Special entertainment and characters from Monsters University will round out this amazing day.

All summer long, you can meet Mike and Sulley in their college roommate gear. Mike wears a ballcap from his alma mater and Sulley wears a letterman jacket. They can be found in the new Monsters University themed area at the Magic Kingdom and California Adventure. And be sure to look for the all new "Monsterail", a Monorail that has been decked out in Monsters University characters. I love the wrapped monorails. The Tron and the Avengers monorails were awesome.

EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Magic Shot

I love the Disney PhotoPass Magic Shots. They're a fun way to add a little character to your Disney Parks photos. This year, there's a special Magic Shot that's only available at the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. Featuring Chef Remy, from the Pixar film Ratatouille, this Magic Shot is available throughout the World Showcase or at the entrance of the park in front of Spaceship Earth.

Christmas At EPCOT

Holiday magic has arrived throughout Disney World. There are decorations, treats, and character filled parades in the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. And now it's time for Christmas at EPCOT. The Christmas celebrations in EPCOT will begin on November 27 and continue until December 30.

Characters dressed up for Christmas will parade through the World Showcase. Watch for Anna and Elsa in the "Frozen Holiday Promenade," Mickey and pals on the "Mickey and Friends Holiday World Tour," and Santa Claus as he takes a horse-drawn tour sharing holiday wishes with everyone. 

JOYFUL! will perform R&B, Gospel, contemporary and traditional Christmas songs in the World ShowPlace. Also in World ShowPlace, explore the Gingerbread Capital City featuring tasty replicas of iconic US landmarks including the Capitol Building and a 5-foot tall Washington Monument. And the Voices of Liberty, my favorite performers at EPCOT, will be singing favorite carols and seasonal songs in delightful 8-part harmony on the American Gardens Theatre stage.
