There's just something about the music of the bagpipes that I absolutely love. (Must be all that Celtic ancestry.) I heard the John Mohr Mackintosh Pipes and Drums perform at this year's Highland Weekend at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. They were fantastic!

The Little Mermaid - Choices

With each new trailer for Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid, I'm drawn further into Ariel's world. It's looking like it will be quite good, much like the live-action Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. 

Here's the official synopsis from Disney: 

"The Little Mermaid" is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. The film stars Halle Bailey as Ariel; Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric; Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian; Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle; Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder; Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina; Art Malik as Sir Grimsby; with Javier Bardem as King Triton; and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.

The Little Mermaid arrives in theaters on May 26th.

Everyone Hungers For Something

The first trailer for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has arrived and it looks incredible. As with the previous films, it looks like this one will stick pretty closely to the book, which is fantastic. I can't wait to see it!

Experience the story of THE HUNGER GAMES — 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, and decades before Coriolanus Snow became the tyrannical President of Panem.

 

THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES follows a young Coriolanus (Tom Blyth) who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), a tribute from the impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates. With everything he has worked for hanging in the balance, Snow unites with Lucy Gray to turn the odds in their favor.
